Job description
The Role

We re recruiting a Senior Buyer to take ownership of supply chain activities for a leading organisation in the public sector. You ll manage everything from sourcing, tendering, and contract implementation to supplier development, ensuring value delivery and strong stakeholder relationships.

You ll also support other parts of the wider group, working closely with procurement teams to drive best practice and compliance with the latest regulations, including the Procurement Act 2023.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver sourcing and category plans to meet business objectives
  • Manage full tender processes using the Find a Tender Service (FTS), including contract setup
  • Ensure all procurement activities are compliant with current legislation and company policies
  • Engage with suppliers throughout selection, evaluation, contracting, and ongoing management
  • Lead supplier performance management and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Provide market insight, benchmarking, and risk assessments to inform procurement decisions
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders to support integrated procurement
  • Support sourcing of new solutions, products, and materials across the group
  • Prepare volume and price forecasts for budgeting and reporting purposes
  • Produce performance reports for senior management
Requirements
  • Minimum Level 4 CIPS qualification (or equivalent), working towards MCIPS desirable
  • Solid understanding of Public Procurement processes, including the Procurement Act 2023
  • Proven experience in strategic procurement, ideally within FM, building, or public sectors
  • Knowledge of procurement performance metrics, tendering, and contract management
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
  • Organised and able to manage multiple priorities effectively
  • Commercial awareness with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to travel as required; full driving licence essential
