Overview

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Practitioner to join our Emergency Duty Team on a permanent part time basis. The Emergency Duty Team (out of hours social care) offers essential support services outside standard office hours to address urgent social care needs and reduce the likelihood of emergencies. EDT handles social care emergencies that cannot be safely left to the following working day and responds to the whole Coventry community, including Children’s Services, Housing, Adult Social Care and Youth Justice Services, aligning with the overarching principles and objectives of these disciplines. The Emergency Duty Team provides an out of hours emergency service between 5pm and 8.30am throughout the week, including weekends, and are office based during these times. The team responds to safeguarding concerns relating to children, young people, their families and adults, and also provides an out of hours housing service.

The post holder will be responsible for overseeing and supporting the work of Children and Family Workers. In partnership with agencies, the post holder will respond to all requests for assistance received during the work shift with a particular focus on promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children, adults and families of Coventry until core working hours. All candidates must have the Right to Work in the UK. This role does not offer sponsorship. This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and appointment is conditional upon a satisfactory DBS check.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee and support the work of Children and Family Workers within the Emergency Duty Team.
  • Respond to all requests for assistance received during the out of hours shift, with a focus on safeguarding the welfare of children, adults and families in Coventry.
  • Collaborate with agencies to address urgent social care needs outside core working hours.
  • Promote safeguarding and undertake statutory and non-statutory work as required across adults, children and housing matters.
Qualifications
  • A current registration with Social Work England.
  • A sound knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
  • A proven ability to work under pressure and make sound decisions.
  • Knowledge of assessment methods, care management and casework methods.
  • Experience of carrying out a range of statutory work with adults, children and housing matters.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with adults, children, young people and families.
