Overview

Support Assistant (PICA Support) — Primary School in Everton

We’re looking for a caring and committed Support Assistant to join our friendly team at a welcoming primary school in Everton. This role is centred around providing one-to-one support for a child with PICA (Persistent Eating of Non-Food Substances), helping to ensure their safety, wellbeing and inclusion in the classroom.

The Role

As a Support Assistant, you will:

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a child with PICA, keeping them safe and engaged in learning.
  • Work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to put support strategies into practice.
  • Encourage positive learning and play experiences.
  • Help build the child’s independence, confidence and social skills.
  • Keep accurate records and follow safeguarding procedures.
About You

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Patient, empathetic and proactive.
  • Willing to learn about PICA and undertake specialist training if needed.
  • A good communicator and strong team player.
  • Experienced in supporting children with SEND (desirable, but not essential – training will be provided).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
