Qualifications

Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Assistant to join our Pharmacy team at HMP Wealstun, a busy category C male training and resettlement prison near Wetherby. This is a rare opportunity to join a close-knit Pharmacy team in a unique working environment where no two days are the same. You will work in our onsite pharmacy with duties including dispensing medication, second checking, and preparing prescriptions. The role offers opportunities for development and further training.

Hours This is a full-time role, 37.5 hours per week, 08:00–16:00 or 09:00–17:00, Monday to Friday. There are no weekends or bank holidays.

Salary This is a full-time position with a salary of up to £28,690 per annum, depending on experience.

Main duties of the job

As our Pharmacy Assistant, responsibilities include:

  • Work within the onsite pharmacy as part of a team of 14
  • Support the Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Manager, and the wider healthcare team
  • Label and dispense medications, and prepare prescriptions
  • Second check controlled drugs
  • Contribute to services such as medicine reconciliation, stock management, and transportation of medicines
  • Help ensure a safe and secure medicines management service, following policies, procedures and SOPs
