Overview

Permanent Full Time Occupational Therapist band 6RHEUMATOLOGY / UPPER LIMB ORTHOPAEDIC MSK out-patient servicesWe are delighted to be able to advertise a permanent full time (37.5hrs) Band 6 Occupational Therapy post in the Rheumatology therapy and orthopaedic upper limb service.We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic occupational therapist to join our team, with this out- patient role being primarily based within the dynamic and friendly Rheumatology Therapy Team at Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust. The rheumatology therapy team have close links to the specialist upper limb orthopaedic physiotherapy service, hand therapy team and wider MSK physiotherapy services.This post will be part of a team of therapists who deliver the service across the three hospital sites within the trust.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be expected to provide holistic occupational therapy assessment and treatment for a caseload of rheumatology patients; treatment modalities include activities of daily living optimisation, joint protection education, splinting, pain management education, exercises etc. The rheumatology OT service offer one to one intervention, group treatment and home visits as deemed appropriate. For patients referred to the service with orthopaedic upper limb needs, the successful candidate will be required to provide appropriate splinting to compliment a wider treatment pathway. The postholder will assist in helping continue service development in line with latest guidelines, providing the highest quality care for patients and provide support and training to the wider therapy team and other healthcare professionals.As a team, we pride ourselves on our development and positive approach to change, as well as having a flexible and supportive team ethos.
