Overview

Interim Senior Financial Reporting Manager – Based in London, hybrid. Length: 6 months initially. Inside IR35. Rate: £500 per day via an umbrella company.

We are seeking a highly experienced finance professional to take on an interim Senior Financial Reporting Manager role within a local authority. The successful candidate will have at least three years' recent experience operating at Deputy Chief Accountant level in a local government setting.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the completion and external audit of the Council\'s 2024/25 Statement of Accounts, ensuring full statutory compliance
  • Initiate and oversee preparations for the 2025/26 year-end closure, including robust in-year reconciliation procedures
  • Manage all aspects of the Collection Fund
  • Drive automation and digitisation of statutory financial returns using the Council\'s financial systems
  • Ensure high standards of efficiency, accuracy, and audit readiness
Experience and knowledge required
  • Proven track record in end-to-end production of statutory accounts
  • Deep understanding of local government finance legislation
  • Strong leadership in complex financial environments
