Graduate Quantity Surveyor – 2026 – Essex & London

We’re excited to open applications for our 2026 Graduate Programme, starting in September. This is your opportunity to build a meaningful career where your work contributes to healthier, greener, and more inclusive places for people to thrive.

Over two years, you’ll gain hands‑on experience, structured learning, and the support of mentors who care about your growth. You’ll develop the technical and interpersonal skills to help you succeed and make a lasting impact.

Our Building Services team provides complete Facilities Management of buildings throughout the UK, providing mechanical and electrical engineering support, cleaning, catering and grounds maintenance on a planned and reactive basis, using technological solutions to manage our teams in the most efficient ways.

Working as part of our Facilities Management (FM) division, within our Commercial Property Maintenance team on‑site at Essex Schools as well as our team at MOD Whitehall in London, we are now looking for an enthusiastic Graduate Quantity Surveyor to join our 2026 development programme and help us shape the future with purpose and innovation.

Due to the location of this role, successful candidates will have to pass high security clearance (SC). In order to pass, both UK and non‑UK subjects must have lived in the UK for a minimum of 5 years. We are unable to accept candidates with dual nationality.

What you’ll do
  • Help minimise the costs of a project to ensure profitability and risk mitigation
  • Build relationships and negotiate with trade contractors and client representatives
  • Support the preparation and completion of site measurement and records, day work sheets, labour and plant returns
  • Procure trade contract packages, including completing detailed tender analysis and preparation of tender and contract documents
  • Assist with the procurement of sub‑contract packages
  • Work within the projects commercial team and have responsibility in measuring and quantifying works for cost plan validation, completing interim and final account valuations
  • Prepare contractual documents including preparing scopes and sub‑contract warranties
  • Other commercial tasks depending on project needs
What you’ll bring to the role
  • Studying towards (in your final year) or having completed a Quantity Surveying degree accredited by the RICS. We will consider applications from other commercially focused or construction qualification backgrounds.
  • Have excellent communications skills and attention to detail
  • Values driven and passionate about sustainability
  • Commercially minded
  • Enthusiastic about learning and developing new ways of thinking
  • This role requires visits to multiple sites. As such, we would expect you to have a driving licence.

  • Opportunities to volunteer at least one day per year
  • Access to our employee networks including Women’s, Ability, Pride, O.N.E (Origins Nationality Ethnicity), Military, and Mental Health & Wellbeing
  • My Rewards discounts and cycle to work scheme to support a healthy work‑life balance where possible
  • You would be joining a mental‑health‑aware organisation and will have access to wellbeing support through our employee assistance programme, mental health ambassador network and wellbeing conversations
