Electrical Design Engineer - Building Services

  • Location: Manchester, UK (Hybrid, with flexible home working)
  • Start Date: Immediate
  • Rate: £40 - £45 per hour (Outside IR35)
  • Contract: 6 Months (extension highly likely)

Our client, a global leader in energy infrastructure, is delivering innovative transmission projects that enable a sustainable energy future. They are seeking an Electrical Building Services Design Engineer to join their Manchester-based design team. In this role, you\'ll be responsible for producing and reviewing technical solutions for auxiliary electrical systems on major renewable and transmission projects, working closely with other engineering disciplines in a collaborative and supportive environment.

Auxiliary Electrical Systems Scope
  • Fire detection and alarm systems
  • Lighting, small power, and electrical sub-distribution
  • Security, access control, and CCTV systems
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and specify auxiliary electrical systems in compliance with contractual, legal, client, and industry standards.
  • Review client specifications and enquiry documentation.
  • Approve technical specifications for auxiliary electrical systems pre- and post-contract award on HV projects.
  • Evaluate supplier technical submissions during tender and delivery stages.
  • Review and approve supplier drawings and design deliverables.
  • Provide electrical design expertise and governance within the engineering team.
  • Undertake design reviews of subcontractor design packages, ensuring compliance with relevant standards.
  • Collaborate with planners to prepare and review project schedules.
  • Contribute to design and project risk registers.
  • Take ownership of workload, programme deliverables, and allocated budgets.
  • Collaborate with Mechanical Building Services engineers to provide cross-disciplinary resource and support.
Requirements
  • HNC/HND/Degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services, or a related discipline.
  • BS7671 (18th edition) certification.
  • Proven experience designing in Dialux and competence in Amtech and/or Hevacomp.
  • AutoCAD / Revit proficiency is desirable.
