Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of Quantity Surveyors, Trainees, and Support Staff to meet turnover and profit margin targets.
- Oversee budget reviews and cost value reconciliations; deliver accurate, timely KPI-driven reports to the Head of Commercial.
- Coordinate and input into cash flow plans, programme reports, and revenue updates, ensuring all data is punctual and reliable.
- Support Quantity Surveyors at client meetings and uphold Kane account objectives while fostering strong client relationships.
- Champion accurate commercial record-keeping and promote best Quantity Surveying practices across the team.
- Guide Quantity Surveyors in taking commercial leadership on-site, adhering to contract and procurement processes.
- Encourage professional development and progression toward qualifications.
- Lead job start-up and preconstruction activities, resolving contract issues and managing commercial risks effectively.
- Devise and implement strategies to mitigate risks and drive schemes to successful final accounts, maintaining cash flow and profit benchmarks.
- Fulfil full line management responsibilities including recruitment, performance reviews, leave, and disciplinary procedures.
- Oversee subcontract packages to ensure compliant engagement terms, proper scope allocation, and payment processes.
- Champion and maintain commercial processes, ensuring compliance and continuous improvement across the team.
- Participate in financial meetings and collaborate with the finance team to resolve issues and coordinate activities.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years\' experience in a similar role.
- Proven experience using JCT Design & Build and NEC contract forms.
- Track record of working on projects with Tier 1 Main Contractors.
- Desirable: M&E or specialist contractor experience (preferred but not essential).
- Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills (both written and verbal).
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload effectively.
- Proven problem-solving abilities, including managing conflicting work demands.
- Proactive mindset with the ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-motivated with the capacity to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to mentor and develop team members.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and best practices in processes.
- Hands-on approach with a positive, can-do attitude.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
