Overview

London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust – Clinical Nurse Specialist for Parkinson's

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic nurse who is passionate about providing excellent care and services for people who live with Parkinson's. You will have significant post-registration experience and knowledge of Parkinson's, along with a willingness to learn and a positive 'can do' attitude. Working within a multi-professional environment, the role will challenge you to push forward, be an innovator in your field and act as a role model for standards of care through clinical practice.

Main duties

You will be the professional clinical link between all areas of care for individuals with Parkinson's and provide care and support for patients from diagnosis through ongoing treatment and care. You will provide excellent teaching experiences and contribute to local clinical networks. The Trust is committed to staff development and will offer thorough training and support. Dedicated Parkinson's experience is preferred, but candidates willing to evolve their skills will be considered.

Person Specification
Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse-Adult with Current NMC registration
  • Advanced communication skills/counselling qualification or willingness to undertake
  • Evidence of continuous professional development preferably in Parkinson's or Neurology
  • Masters Degree
Experience
  • Significant relevant experience in the specialty or in the acute hospital setting, at least at Band 6 level or above
  • Experience of formal/informal teaching
  • Experience with autonomous working
  • Experience of complex decision making
  • Demonstrate analytical skills and critical thinking
  • Experience in looking after neurological and/or other long-term conditions
Other Skills
  • Demonstrates sound knowledge of current developments in the NHS
