Job summary

A care service provider in Birmingham seeks an experienced Leaving Care Personal Advisor for a 3-month contract. You will support young people transitioning from care into adulthood by providing guidance and practical assistance to help them achieve independence. Relevant experience and knowledge of care legislation are essential. The role offers a pay rate of £23.80 - £31.65 per hour, with the possibility of extension.

Qualifications

Summary

Birmingham Children’s Trust is seeking a dedicated and motivated 18 Leaving Care Personal Advisor to support young people transitioning from care into adulthood. The postholder will provide guidance, advocacy and practical assistance to care leavers aged 18 and over helping them to access education, employment, training, housing and health services. This role is central to empowering young people to achieve independence, stability and positive life outcomes while ensuring their voices are heard in planning and decision-making.

Responsibilities
  • Act as the named Personal Advisor for care leavers supporting them to implement and achieve their Pathway Plans.
  • Work alongside Social Workers, carers and partner agencies to provide coordinated support tailored to young people's needs.
  • Undertake regular contact with care leavers including home visits to monitor progress, and provide ongoing advice and encouragement.
  • Support young people to access universal services, community resources and specialist provision where required.
  • Contribute to the development of leaving care services and continuous improvement of practice within the team.
Essentials
  • Experience of working with young people in care/leavers or other vulnerable groups in a supportive role.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation including the Children (Leaving Care) Act 2000, the Children and Social Work Act 2017 and safeguarding requirements.
Note
  • You should be available to work immediately or at short notice.
  • You should have the right to work in the UK.
  • This role requires an Enhanced DBS.
