The role offers growth through in-depth reviews of business processes from both operational and regulatory perspectives and exposure to Lincoln Financial’s Information Technology, Data Analytics, and Professional Practices audit teams. A strong understanding of operational processes, relevant laws and regulations, and effective communication across business functions is essential.

What you’ll be doing
  • Lead end-to-end audit engagements of operational and compliance processes, including planning, identifying risks and control objectives, evaluating and testing controls, facilitating client meetings, and drafting deliverables in accordance with the internal audit methodology.
  • Provide subject matter expertise, technical audit proficiency, and professional judgment to assess a broad range of business processes/objectives, risks, and control activities.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and provide practical, risk-based recommendations that strengthen controls and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Conduct detailed work paper reviews and manage day-to-day interactions with team members to ensure timely completion in conformance with department policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and report on remediation activities of identified issues.
  • Serve as a point of contact for external auditors and regulators (such as the Departments of Insurance) regarding their audit requirements.
  • Foster a cohesive and collaborative team environment by interacting regularly with peers and maintaining strong relationships across the audit department and the company.
  • Partner with risk management and other first and second line partners to establish strong working relationships while maintaining independence.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across the company to foster collaboration and promote Internal Audit’s value proposition.
  • Stay current on industry regulations and best practices while expanding knowledge of the company’s products, operations, distribution systems, and regulatory obligations.
  • Utilize automated software tools and stay abreast of current technology in the department and business/client areas.
  • Apply COSO and International Professional Practices Framework to audit engagements; perform duties in compliance with IIA Global Standards, state and federal regulations, and company policies.
  • Perform other duties as required.
