An analytical instruments leader is seeking a Sales Development Manager for the Food testing and Environmental markets. This role involves aggressive market development, building a strong sales pipeline, and establishing relationships with key account leaders. Candidates should have a strong technical background in Mass Spectrometry and Chromatography, with a minimum of 10 years of experience, as well as proven sales capabilities. The position offers opportunities for travel within France and requires adaptability in a dynamic environment.

Overview

To accelerate its penetration in Food testing and environmental (F&E) markets, Waters is seeking a dynamic contributor to fill the role of Sales Development Manager. This role will be responsible for aggressive market development focused on driving the sales of our comprehensive solutions to the exciting and rapidly growing F&E markets in the region assigned. These solutions comprise Ultra Performance Liquid Chromatography (UPLC), Mass Spectrometry (MS), Software, Consumables and Services.

The desired candidate should be highly self‑motivated, comfortable seeking out new business and will build and implement a business plan to deliver a strong sales pipeline and development activities that target government laboratories, public utility companies, food manufacturers, private contract testing organizations and research institutions. Developing close internal collaboration with inside sales, field sales, service and marketing colleagues and application scientists will be key to success.

The foundation of the sales development manager’s role is to develop a keen understanding of customers in the F&E Markets and their needs to design solutions with lasting and substantial impact. Another critical aspect of this role is to proactively build and nurture strong relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and to implement a long‑term strategic approach with strategic key accounts, ensuring sustained partnerships and ongoing business growth in F&E.

Responsibilities
  • Purposefully develop new prospects and penetrate existing and competitive accounts in Food testing & Environmental (F&E) markets
  • Meet or exceed sales targets with the creation and execution of a Sales and Marketing plan based on the corporate strategy, which you will accurately prepare by application categories in every addressable market segment of public and private sectors.
  • Develop and execute a Strategic Key Account plan to develop long term partnerships with KOLs and key actors in F&E markets (e.g., regular visits, seeding, onsite demo, method development support, customized webinars)
  • Maintain installed‑base customer satisfaction
  • Define, in collaboration with Marketing and local resources (Demand Gen, System Sales team), the selection and the organization of local trade shows and customer events to gain a deep understanding of customer needs and identify growth opportunities
  • Visit customers regularly to highlight Waters F&E solutions and help customers overcome any technical obstacles
  • Build technical proficiency in Waters solutions, to be perceived by customers as a credible resource
  • Maintain current knowledge on analysis, market dynamics, regulations, application trends, and competitive information
  • Work closely with key stakeholders (both external and internal), who can support you and your customers to come to a strong solution to create customer success
  • Provide information to marketing team to enhance business development programs
  • Ensure appropriate introduction of new products to sales force and to the marketplace.
  • Fully use our Sales CRM for Sales Funnel management
  • Submit accurate and timely monthly sales forecasts and monthly territory plan of action
  • Travel within the territory (50%). Overnight travel may be required and international travel as needed
  • Location: Field Position in France (ideally in Paris or main cities with easy connection to transport)
Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Masters, or PhD in scientific area such as chemistry, biology, or environmental science
Experience
  • 10+ years Mass Spectrometry and Chromatography
  • Experience with key applications (Residues, Toxins, Pesticides, Vet Drugs, Nutritional Analysis and QC) in Food Testing and also in Environmental market.
  • Confirmed Sales experience and Marketing as a plus
