A public research institute in France seeks a post-doctoral researcher to analyze panel data and contribute to the EqualHealth project. The ideal candidate holds a PhD in sociology or related fields and has strong quantitative analysis skills. Fluency in English is essential, with knowledge of French considered a plus. The position offers opportunities for personal research and collaboration within a multidisciplinary team.
The mission of the Institut national d'études démographiques, a public scientific and technological establishment (EPST), is to conduct research into various demographic issues (fertility and the family, health and mortality, migration, etc.) and to inform the public about current developments. INED is multidisciplinary in terms of both its recruitment and the research it carries out. It employs a total of 250 people (permanent staff, contract staff and doctoral students) and welcomes a large number of associate researchers and foreign guests. INED is at the heart of a network of national and international research partnerships.
The EqualHealth project, funded by the ANR for a period of 3 years (2025‑2028), aims to improve knowledge of the links between non‑standard work schedules and mental health over the life course in the EU, with a focus on France and the UK. Particular attention will be paid to gender variations in these processes.
The research is based on the analysis of national cohorts and panel dataset, and a large corpus of biographical interviews. The EqualHealth research team consists of six researchers from various disciplines (sociology, demography, political science, public health) and institutions (INED, University of Southampton, Sciences Po Paris, CNRS, Panthéon Sorbonne University, Rouen‑Normandie University).
The post‑doc will work under the supervision of Anne LAMBERT (researcher at INED, P.I. of the EqualHealth Project) and Afshin ZILANAWALA (Associate Professor, Southampton University). The researcher will be administratively attached to INED.
In accordance with INED's policy on hosting post‑docs, the post‑doc will be able to devote 20% of her/his time to her/his own work: publication or promotion of previous work, personal research, preparation of applications for research careers.
