Health and Safety Officer
Minimum Qualifications / Experience
- Grade 12
- Diploma / degree in Health and Safety (SAMTRAC or equivalent).
- 5 - 8 years relevant experience in the mining and quarrying industry.
- Valid RSA driver’s license and reliable transport.
- Must be Computer literate and have good administration skills.
- Must have good interpersonal skills.
- Must be willing to travel to various operations in the Western Cape.
- Be able to work under pressure, independently and in a team.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and legislative organisations - “DMRE”
- Medically fit to perform duties in the Mine Health and Safety Act.
Duties And Responsibilities (Not Limited To)
- The successful candidate will be responsible for support in the following support services: Papertrail, Kofax, Web Register, Unis, ESS, SAGE 300 People, BEE123 and Mobile contracts
- Oversee and manage day-to-day SHE (Safety, Health, Hygiene, Environment) functions.
- Assist with and ensure compliance with all administrative functions related to the company’s SHE management system.
- Become familiar with the client’s specifications and standards, ensuring compliance, particularly with Contractors Management (maintenance of the operational SHE file).
- Assist the company in complying with current SHE legislation as per the legal register of various legislations, including but not limited to OHSA, MHSA, BCEA, NEMA, etc.
- Conduct and assist with the recording, reporting, and investigation of incidents and accidents.
- Monitor action plans for the implementation of recommendations.
- Raise SHE awareness in your area of responsibility.
- Perform periodic workplace and equipment inspections and audits (daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly).
- Practice safe working techniques.
