A leading marine engineering firm in Hauts-de-France is seeking two Freighter & Marine Engineers to coordinate operations worldwide for telecommunications cables and associated equipment. Responsibilities include designing cable handling equipment and supervising teams. Candidates should have marine engineering knowledge, experience in port operations, and the willingness to travel for work. This position offers a dynamic environment with multi-national teams.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of marine engineering systems and associated machinery.
  • Basic Maritime and Coastguard Agency Certification is preferred.
  • Willingness for regular travel to global locations.

Responsabilités

Overview

ASN is looking for two Freighter & Marine Engineers for its Marine department.

Responsibilities
  • Coordination of freighter mobilisation and transfer operations worldwide for telecommunications cable and associated submerged equipment
  • Design and hands-on fabrication, commissioning, and planned maintenance of cable handling and storage equipment
  • Team supervision, QHSE and costs control of freighter and temporary depot operations
  • Maintaining inventory records and providing regular status reporting
  • Identification and reporting of QHSE issues in accordance with company and relevant external standards
  • Working in close conjunction with Vessel crew, Port agents, Client representatives, and Project Managers
Desired profile / Qualifications
  • Safe rigging, lifting and slinging in the marine environment
  • Knowledge and experience of coordination in port operations of small and large vessels
  • Marine Engineering knowledge, and general understanding of engineering systems and construction on board ships, associated machinery, and hydraulic systems
  • Basic knowledge of vessel stability calculation, on board fabrication, and Computer Aided Design
  • Materials in Marine Engineering: Overview of metals and non-metals used in the marine environment, and Basic Electrical Engineering Principles
  • Ability to interpret and work to engineering drawings, designs and general arrangements
  • Experience of dealing with international regulatory authorities and port agents also an advantage, understanding of marine codes of practice (ISM, MLC, Class & Flag State)
  • Basic Maritime and Coastguard Agency Certification, and Computer literacy (Word, Excel, E-mail, PowerPoint)
