Job Summary

The Piping/Mech Constr. Field Engineer II is responsible for providing technical engineering support to ensure piping and mechanical construction work complies with all standards, codes, and specifications. Responsibilities include managing technical disciplines related to piping systems and mechanical equipment, ensuring quality and conformance to policies and industry norms. May have line management responsibility for technical personnel or oversee technical quality across disciplines.

Essential Functions
  • Support the company's safety commitments and adhere to the 'Code of Business Conduct'.
  • Represent the company professionally and uphold high moral standards.
  • Provide technical support to the construction team.
  • Assist in project planning, coordination, and technical monitoring.
  • Review design constructability and conduct value engineering.
  • Resolve technical field issues and document final installations.
  • Manage drawings, specifications, and maintain accurate documentation, including redlined and As-Built drawings.
  • Oversee RFI processes and logs.
  • Assist in preparing scopes of work, bid evaluations, and contract execution.
  • Review and manage change orders and subcontractor proposals.
  • Maintain communication with subcontractors and vendors regarding RFIs and scope changes.
  • Coordinate engineering studies and support discipline leads.
  • Participate in work package creation and management.
  • Assist in systemizing project scope and preparing turnover packages.
  • Support mechanical completion activities, including punch list walk-downs and sign-offs.
  • Provide technical assistance across departments to ensure project completion.
  • Participate in special projects as assigned.
  • Contribute to lessons learned and constructability reviews.
  • Perform other duties as directed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology or Mechanical Engineering preferred; equivalent experience acceptable. PE or EIT license preferred.
  • Minimum 4 years of heavy construction engineering experience, focusing on Civil, Concrete, or Structural Steel scopes.
  • Knowledge of surveying, design standards, and engineering practices.
  • Experience with Advanced Workface Planning (AWP) preferred.
  • Strong communication skills; proficient in MS Word, Excel, SharePoint.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
  • Excellent organizational skills and multitasking ability under deadlines.
  • Physical ability to conduct field inspections, including walking, climbing, working at heights, and in confined spaces. Must lift up to 40 pounds and use PPE, including respirators if required. Capable of working in various temperatures.
