A state government agency in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes seeks a Child Welfare Consultant to enforce licensing regulations and provide technical assistance to child care programs. The ideal candidate will hold a master's degree in social work or a related field and possess relevant supervisory experience. The role involves conducting investigations and ensuring compliance with child welfare policies. Opportunities for remote work may be available based on operational needs.

The advanced level Child Welfare Consultant with the Division of Child Welfare Licensing functions as a recognized resource responsible for enforcing all licensing regulations as well as all policy and contract requirements in child caring institutions, child placing agencies, and court operated facilities, and to provide expert technical assistance and consultation to these programs, within the assigned geographical region. Determine good moral character and suitability of applicants. Conduct complaint investigations for child caring institutions, child placing agencies, and court operated facilities and coordinates investigations with Child Protective Services. These programs involve all governmentally-operated and all non-governmentally operated children’s institutions and governmentally and non-governmentally operated child placing agencies. Additionally, the consultant monitors contract and policy compliance and the Settlement Agreement for the class action lawsuit Dwayne B. vs Granholm which added new regulatory monitoring requirements. The Consultant takes enforcement actions and testifies in administrative hearings and circuit court hearings when licensees contest Department actions. Participates in various Department and division initiatives.

Possession of a master's degree with a major in social work, psychology, counseling and guidance, family and/or child development, criminal justice, family and child ecology, sociology, family community services, family studies, human services-related counseling major, counseling psychology, elementary education, early childhood education, gerontology, or rehabilitation counseling.
Three years of professional supervisory experience in a child placing agency, child caring institution, or child welfare social court operated facility; or, at least 1 year of experience as a Child Welfare Consultant P11 or equivalent.

The physical location of this position is TBD (covers primarily the following counties: Tuscola/Saginaw/Oakland/Genesee/Macomb/Wayne). Based on operational needs and within established limits, remote work and alternate or hybrid work schedule requests for this position may be considered.
