Role Summary

An expert software development professional requiring little to no day-to-day direction. A seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of various test methodologies; resolves a wide range of issues in creative ways. Well-versed and skilled in advanced testing methodologies. Typically assumes a team leadership role on projects as a key knowledge resource, providing guidance to the team on projects. Develops training materials and can lead workshops for analysts to learn and grow across QA.

Scope

Analyzes the quality of the development process and leads a mindset of continuous improvement for the team. Participates in product development meetings and planning activities. Partners daily with stakeholders to collaboratively identify and meet product quality objectives using a strategic selection of test methods and approaches. Trains and mentors fellow staff members.

Responsibilities

Utilize advanced testing methods to deliver test design, test execution, test analysis, and test closure strategies.

Analyze and monitor software development processes used to ensure quality.

Ensure requirements are met and risks are continuously managed throughout thesoftware development life cycle (SDLC).

Enhance live operations and product deployment stability across both development and production environments.

Research, recommend, and adopt tools as needed with the goal of increasing test coverage that reduces manual effort.

Establish new measures andkey performance indicators (KPIs)to validate and report on software quality.

Support others as they develop appropriate knowledge and skills through training, constructive feedback, and mentorship.

Utilize established development toolsets to design and implement custom test scenarios.

Publicly represent Blizzard in multiple venues and formats, such as attending global conventions and managing quality assurance activities for live operations on social media.

Utilize scripting to assist with execution of testing or QA processes (create / modify scripted test cases).

Responsible for monitoring departmentservice level agreements (SLAs).

Requirements

5 years experience in software testing.

Expertise in one or more software testing methodologies.

Practical knowledge of relational databases such as Oracle, MySQL, and SQLServer.

Proven ability to analyze, interpret, and action on data sets and complex workflows.

Experience with game engines, content and asset editors, Java, and / or similar shared technologies.

Passion for games and software quality.

Pluses

Mobile OS knowledge.

Experience with tools such as Unity Test Framework and device farms.

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.

White box testing experience.

Experience in writing, executing, and monitoring test suites using a variety of technologies including but not limited to Cucumber, Concordion, Selenium, Fit / FitNesse, SoapUI, Unity, Unreal, as well as other proprietary game development toolsets.

High-level of gaming knowledge and / or skill.

Passion for Blizzard’s games and services.
