Scale at Amazon is, well, really big. As a Senior Technical Program Manager in the Books Detail Page team, you'll drive complex technical initiatives that shape how millions of customers discover and interact with books on Amazon. You'll be responsible for leading cross-functional efforts, managing technical dependencies, and ensuring successful delivery of critical features that enhance the customer experience.

Key job responsibilities

• Own and drive end-to-end technical program execution for major initiatives
• Partner with engineering teams to define technical requirements and architectural approaches
• Manage cross-team dependencies and drive technical alignment across organizations
• Create and maintain program roadmaps, identifying risks and mitigation strategies
• Drive operational excellence and process improvements
• Lead technical reviews and provide regular status updates to leadership

A day in the life

As a TPM, your day involves coordinating with multiple engineering teams, reviewing program metrics, and ensuring progress on key deliverables. You'll facilitate technical design reviews, manage stakeholder communications, and work to remove blockers. You'll spend time analyzing data to make informed decisions about program direction and prioritization. You'll also work closely with product teams to ensure technical solutions align with business goals.

Books Detail Page is the cornerstone of Amazon's Books eCommerce funnel. After successfully addressing technical debt, we're now in an exciting phase of customer-focused innovation. Our charter comprises three teams working together to create compelling features that help customers make informed decisions about their book purchases. We own the entire page experience and are passionate about building features that enhance the book discovery and evaluation process.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience in technical program management working directly with software engineering teams
• Experience managing technical programs across cross-functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules
• Experience owning / driving roadmap strategy and definition
• Experience working directly with engineering teams
• Experience in system design

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience in project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management
• Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules
• Experience defining KPI's / SLA's used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership
