The Arranz Lab – Laboratory of Humanized Models of Disease at Achucarro Basque Center for Neuroscience (Spain), is seeking a Project Manager to join hASTROCURE, a project funded by the European Research Council (ref # ERC-2024-COG – 01171591). Our lab focuses on understanding the complex role of human astrocytes in Alzheimer’s disease (AD). We are part of a vibrant neuroscience research environment and collaborate closely with national and international partners. Interested? Check our lab:

Position Overview: The successful candidate will play a key role in managing the administrative, operational, and strategic aspects of our scientific projects. You will work closely with the PI and a multidisciplinary team of researchers, students, and collaborators. It is a full-time position, starting the 1 January 2026.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage project timelines, deliverables, and reporting.
  • Facilitate communication/collaboration between team members, internal, and external partners.
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of grant proposals, scientific reports, and manuscripts.
  • Monitor budgetary aspects in coordination with admin offices.
  • Organize regular team meetings, journal clubs, and collaborative workshops.
  • Ensure compliance with ethical and regulatory guidelines (e.g. stem cell use, animal experimentation).
  • Support onboarding of new lab members & ensure adherence to lab protocols and safety standards.
  • Maintain documentation of SOPs, experimental workflows, and project progress.

Qualifications

  • Background in Neuroscience, Biomedical Sciences, Molecular Biology, or a related discipline.
  • Ideally, 2–3 years of experience in project coordination/management within an academic or biomedical research setting.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
  • Familiar with neurodegenerative disease research or glial cell biology.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple timelines.
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written).
  • Previous experience with stem cell-derived models or in vivo neuroscience models.
  • Knowledge of grant writing and reporting (e.g. Horizon Europe, ERC, NIH).
  • Experience with collaborative international research projects and transference.
