Job Description
- Interpret Laws, Regulations, and Procedures, considering all relevant local/national EHS standards in the organization. Join Servicio de Prevención Mancomunado for GE Wind Energy, S.L. / GE Renovables España, S.L. in Spain. Applies to Project & Service operations to support EHS plan and Annex preparations.
- Ensure customer EHS requirements are properly followed to guarantee access for GE employees and contractors to the customer site.
- Update, support, develop, and implement site procedures, developing updates as needed according to GE management system processes and local regulations.
- Regularly review the site's Emergency Plan, ensuring all materials and equipment are in place, tested, and personnel are trained.
- Train personnel to understand laws, regulations, and procedures, offering guidance on risk mitigation and advocating for safety improvements through engineering controls and risk assessments.
- Support Site Manager in GE EHS program implementation.
- Ensure quarterly emergency drills are conducted, focusing on specific events when necessary.
- Verify that products, equipment, and tools meet safety standards, following up on contractor and Major Components Exchange/Blades team mobilizations, ensuring proper approval and documentation.
- Provide site support and assessment during major operations.
- Conduct scheduled audits: Simplified Work Plan, Legal and GE documentation compliance, site inspections within scope and other regions.
- Manage site inspections by regulatory agencies.
- Maintain EHS documentation in site files.
- Oversee PPE management for GE staff and visitors.
- Perform and report on Simplified Work Plan audits.
- Support contractor mobilization and MCE/Blades teams, ensuring compliance and support services.
- Ensure compliance of GE applications like Gensuite, Comply Works, and SGS with requirements and regulations.
- Review reported information periodically, ensuring accuracy and proper closure.
- Represent GE in local EHS working groups and regional wind community.
Support and promote a Zero Harm Culture.
- Identify trends and advise on actions to prevent incidents.
- Ensure timely reporting, investigation, and proper classification of EHS incidents.
- Manage on-site incidents, support investigations, and provide training on root cause analysis.
- Assess work-related injuries and recordability.
- Review Gensuite event data for accuracy.
- Implement initiatives to reduce injuries across sites.
- Contribute to annual training and learning plans.
- Support local safety standards and engineering safer tools and machines.
Influence Stakeholders.
- Engage with contractors, medical, fire, police, regulators, and clients on EHS matters.
- Advise management of unsafe acts/conditions for corrective actions.
- Maintain follow-up activities with field technicians biweekly.
- Contribute to site EHS goals and objectives.
- Meet with site managers to understand local needs.
- Identify main stakeholders and advocate for safety, balancing protection and efficiency.
- Serve as coach, mentor, and trainer for local management, promoting continuous improvement.
- Support regional EHS decision-making and motivate employees to assess risks with guidance.
Provide Effective Communication.
- Present clear, factual information to internal and external audiences.
- Conduct EHS training and awareness sessions, adapting language as needed.
- Hold regular EHS meetings at all levels, facilitating documentation and organization.
- Share best practices across sites.
- Communicate risk assessments/JSA before tasks.
- Advise site managers on EHS strategies, regulation changes, and performance improvements.
- Monitor and support interpretation of EHS metrics.
Align with Strategic and Business Vision.
- Ensure all EHS activities support the vision of safety and other initiatives.
- Reinforce the Zero Harm vision in all activities and communications.
- Contribute to regional EHS action plans, aligning with global and regional strategies.
Qualifications
Required:
- Technical background in electricity, mechanical, etc.
- Master's degree in EH (Técnico Superior PRL) with qualifications in Ergonomics, Industrial Hygiene, and Safety at Work.
- Physical fitness to climb wind turbines.
- Knowledge of local and regional regulations and authority interactions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and web tools.
- Technical Expert level in EHS knowledge.
- Skilled in risk assessment, audits, compliance, incident management, root cause analysis, and EHS management systems.
- Awareness in security and crisis management.
- Strong soft skills in influence, communication, resilience, change management, and team engagement.
- Fluent in English and local language (written and spoken).
- Minimum 5 years of wind field operations and/or EHS experience, preferably in wind energy.
- Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time.
Desired:
- Familiarity with health and safety and environmental regulations.
- Knowledge of ISO 45001, 14001 standards.
- GWO qualifications (WINDA code).
- Wind Turbine Technician background is advantageous.
