Founded in 2018, the European Center for Angioscience (ECAS) at the Medical Faculty Mannheim of Heidelberg University has expanded substantially in recent years to become globally one of the strongest critical mass hotspots in the field of vascular research (see: www.angioscience.de). We continue to grow and now have openings for

TWO JUNIOR GROUP LEADER POSITIONS IN ANGIOSCIENCE

to be filled ASAP (2 x 3-year each, non-tenure track appointments).

We are looking for well-trained and outstandingly accomplished early career scientists (i.e., MD, PhD or MD/PhD plus 2 to 8 years of postdoctoral training) ready to start their own lab and the adventurous journey into an independent scientific career. We are looking – in the broadest possible sense – for candidates interested in the structure-function analysis of the vasculature during its life cycle from angiogenesis to organotypic vessel maturation, maintenance of quiescence, homeostasis, pruning, regression, aging as well as vascular control mechanisms of organ function in health and disease. Candidates from the field of neurovascular biology are particularly encouraged to apply. Candidates with a good fit for the next funding period of the CRC1366 ‘Vascular Control of Organ Function’ (www.sfb1366.de) are also welcome to apply. Researchers with a clear vision and mission for big questions, innovative ideas and ambitious goals should consider the ECAS as their prime choice for the transition into scientific independence to grow into a strong and internationally visible Principal Investigator position. Clearly, we are looking for bold candidates ready to embark on the growing field of angioscience research.

The positions will come with a solid start-up package. Support to secure additional extramural funds (DFG, ERC, etc.) as well as intense postdoc-to-independence transition mentoring will be provided.
