A leading software development company is seeking a Rust Developer Advocate in Munich. You will blend technical expertise with community engagement to enhance user experience and productivity in the Rust ecosystem. The ideal candidate will have applied experience with software engineering best practices, familiarity with Rust, excellent communication skills, and a passion for AI-enabled development. This role involves engaging with communities, educating customers, and contributing to product feedback.

JetBrains makes industry-leading professional IDEs and team software. We are now seeking a Rust Developer Advocate who can blend their technical expertise, community engagement, and strategic collaboration to enhance our users’ experience and productivity.
The successful candidate will do this by being able to explain how our products can credibly enhance developer productivity in the Rust space and advising product teams based on industry trends and developer feedback. We are looking to hear from candidates who are experienced, passionate, empathetic, and ready to contribute to our roadmap.
- Draw attention to and explain various aspects of our product portfolio (speaking, videos, blog posts, livestreams, sample code, etc.).
- Build and maintain relationships and reputation in the industry, with global and regional communities, and on social media.
- Work with product teams to provide feedback.
- Meet with customers to listen to them and educate them about our offerings.
- Speak to the press on behalf of our product offerings.
- Contribute as needed to other areas within JetBrains.
- Applied experience with software engineering best practices: testing, refactoring, version control, logging, tracing, debugging, etc.
- Experience with Rust and the ecosystem surrounding the technology.
- Hands‑on experience with developing distributed systems or backend applications in Rust with asynchronous runtimes (such as Tokio).
- Passion for applying various AI‑enabled styles of software development.
- Fluency in both spoken and written English.
- Excellent communication skills, especially the ability to tell a compelling story about a given technology.
- Self‑organizational, goal‑setting, and time‑management skills.
- A willingness to travel.
- Experience with JetBrains tools.
- Proficiency in several programming languages (C, C++, Python, Java, Kotlin, etc.).
- Deep understanding of one of the industry sectors: cloud providers and internet infrastructure, fintech, blockchain, web3, and cybersecurity.
- Background working in an environment with highly distributed, diverse teams.
