About the Role

As a Program Director at Valtech, you will be at the forefront of strategic planning, delivery management and hands-on problem-solving. You can be based out of either one of our buzzing Munich, Dusseldorf or Cologne offices.

You will be responsible for orchestrating large-scale digital transformation programs, ensuring seamless execution, and driving measurable business success for both clients and Valtech. You will work closely with our clients to understand their business needs, define strategies, and translate them into actionable roadmaps. This role involves collaborating with a diverse team of digital experts to deliver customer-centric digital solutions while acting as a trusted partner to senior stakeholders and client executives.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage complex, multi-stream digital programs, ensuring governance, delivery excellence and measurable business impact for a diverse range of clients.
• Guide clients through their digital transformation journey by aligning strategies with business goals, translating them into program objectives, roadmaps and success metrics.
• Serve as the primary client contact for program governance, risk management, reporting, fostering transparency and alignment with stakeholders.
• Proactively manage risks and delivery blockers, implementing strategic resolutions and escalating issues when necessary.
• Monitor and report on delivery progress, burn rates and financial health to ensure effective project governance.
• Drive continuous improvement in program delivery, embedding best practices in digital strategy, technology, and operations, and evolving delivery frameworks for scalability and agility.
• Collaborate with client teams to optimize program outcomes, ensure long-term strategic growth, and promote alignment between strategy, creative, and technology functions.
• Own program-level budgets and P&L management, managing different contracting models to ensure commercial success, profitability, and sustainable growth.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with senior client stakeholders, positioning Valtech as a strategic partner.
• Identify opportunities for account expansion and service innovation, driving revenue growth in collaboration with sales and client teams.
• Support new business pitches and proposals by providing insights from successful program delivery.
• Mentor and develop program leads and project managers, fostering a high-performance culture and ensuring strong alignment between Valtech teams and customer stakeholders.
• Cultivate an environment of learning and knowledge sharing, promoting process optimization and a culture of accountability, transparency, and excellence.
• Proven track record (10+ years) in leading large-scale digital transformation programs within consulting, agency, or enterprise environments.
• Extensive experience in client-facing program and project management roles, with the ability to work with C-level stakeholders on complex, multi-layered initiatives.
• Ownership of program-level budgets and vast experience in managing different contracting models as well as P&L across broader programs and portfolios.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
• Strong track record of delivering digital programs across multiple disciplines and with international, distributed, and multicultural project teams.
• Strategic and operational expertise, with the ability to bridge high-level business strategy with tactical execution.
• A flexible mindset and hands-on approach, seamlessly switching between strategic leadership and operational interventions.
• Expertise in Agile at scale (e.g., SAFe, LeSS, Disciplined Agile) with a strong grasp of digital delivery models.
• Familiarity with enterprise platforms, e-commerce, CRM, marketing automation, and analytics tools.
• Proven experience in leading, coaching, and inspiring multidisciplinary teams, including developers, business analysts, QA, and creatives.
• Strong mentoring skills, fostering a culture of growth and collaboration.
• Language Skills: Fluency in English.

Nice to Have

• Fluent in German.
• Certification in project management methodologies like SAFe, Scrum, PRINCE2, or PMI.
• Experience with emerging technologies such as AI, cloud platforms, or digital commerce.
