Installs, operates, maintains, and repairs all hospital mechanical and HVAC equipment and related machinery. Installs, operates, maintains, and repairs HVAC control systems, including pneumatic and electro-pneumatic systems that control all hospital building environments.

Essential Functions
- Installs, repairs, and maintains hospital commercial and domestic refrigeration systems, air conditioning, heating, and ventilation systems according to manufacturer's specifications.
- Designs, installs, maintains, and repairs air duct systems, refrigeration piping, and control wiring according to established procedures for heat load and equipment.
- Services pneumatic and electronic control systems, including humidification control systems, according to manufacturers' specifications.
- Performs water treatment and maintenance for cooling towers and chilled water systems according to established procedures.
- Services ultra-cold freezers and specialized medical and research refrigeration systems and environmental systems.
- Installs, inspects, and maintains warm and cold air steam and hot water heating and ventilating units according to established procedures and manufacturers' specifications.
- Maintains appropriate environmental conditions in research, animal, and computer areas by maintaining humidity, temperature, and airflow levels within acceptable ranges.
Education
High School Diploma or Equivalent required. Trade/Technical/Vocational Diploma in a related field of study preferred.

Licenses and Credentials
- Personal Driver's License (New Hampshire) - preferred
- Fuel Gas Fitter [New Hampshire] - preferred
Experience
- HVAC experience 1-2 years required.
- Hospital mechanic experience 3-5 years preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of state and local building codes, blueprint reading, and use of tools and materials.
- Ability to estimate time and materials needed to complete a job.
- Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, and pull objects weighing 25-100 pounds while climbing, balancing, standing, or crawling.
- Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action in a timely fashion.
- Ability to deal tactfully with staff, patients, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
- Maintains the care and use of supplies and maintains the appearance of the department.
- Ability to read, write legibly, speak clearly, and understand English.
