Job summary
A leading security services company is seeking a Security Officer in the Vancouver area to monitor for suspicious behavior, apprehend shoplifters, and write professional reports. Candidates should have at least 2 years of security experience and a valid BC Security Worker License. The role requires a commitment to safety, professionalism, and the ability to manage challenging situations. An inclusive work environment that values diversity is emphasized.

Responsibilities
- Monitor for suspicious behavior to prevent theft.
- Apprehend and detain shoplifters when necessary.
- Write professional security reports.
Skills
- Monitoring for suspicious behavior through static surveillance to prevent theft and other security risks.
- Apprehending and safely detaining shoplifters when necessary, including making arrests where required, in accordance with legal and company protocols.
- Write professional security reports with a strong command of the English language.
- Familiarity with the use of CCTV systems & Report Documentation
- Maintaining a visible security presence across multiple store locations, depending on operational needs.
- Collaborating with fellow officers and store staff, while also being comfortable working independently.
- Managing difficult or high-stress situations with professionalism and a calm, steady approach.
- Standing and remaining attentive during shifts of up to 8 hours.
- Valid BC Security Worker License
- Advanced Security Training (AST) preferred
- Minimum 2 years security work experience in a retail and mall, preferably working with the primary focus on identifying and apprehending shoplifters.
- Minimum of 1 year of Undercover Loss Prevention experience is an asset
- Occupational First Aid Level 1 (OFA Level 1) or equivalent
- Working knowledge of the Criminal Code of Canada, the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and Trespass to Property Act.
- Willingness to work irregular hours and travel as needed.
