City Experiences is seeking a Bartender for our City Cruises operation in Gananoque.

About The Opportunity
The Bartender provides prompt and consistent service of Dockside beverage program. Crew members participate actively within the front of house team by servicing bar guests, completing timely beverage chit times, managing cash drawer, and maintaining a safe, clean, and stocked bar workspace. The successful candidate will contribute to an unforgettable guest experience through exceptional care for food & beverage, respecting decisions made by direct supervisors, being viewed favorably by peers, and executing duties swiftly and efficiently.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide excellent hospitality to guests and coworkers as prescribed in our RESPECT Service System.
- Report to work on time for all scheduled shifts, clocking in and out appropriately, and managing personal break times.
- Follow all policies and procedures related to the crew’s role within the company.
- Maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance in accordance with appearance standards.
- Proficiently understand all City Cruises Gananoque & Ivy Lea experiences and menu offerings.
- Be aware of vessel schedules, embarkment periods, local attractions, upcoming events, and entertainment to prepare for peak dining periods.
- Understand common allergies, preferences, and religious dining restrictions.
- Know various beer, wine, spirit, cocktail styles & recipes. Adhere to the Dockside Beverage menu recipes as set by the Food & Beverage Manager. Prepare alcoholic & non-alcoholic beverages accurately for guests.
- Take responsibility for bar service space, including daily check-ins with supervisors, stock preparedness, and cleanliness.
- Accurately take orders and enter them into the POS system, following all recipes as directed.
- Manage timely order execution, beverage and food service, and payments to ensure guest satisfaction.
- Handle payments accurately, including issuing change and receipts, and adhering to policies on payment methods, voids, refunds, and discounts.
- Participate in guest celebration and entertainment experiences.
- Set up and break down dining and service stations as directed, including moving furniture.
- Assist in routine cleaning of the dining room, patio, equipment, and stock areas, following checklists.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety in all common areas and service stations, reporting concerns promptly.
- Understand and practice all City Cruises Gananoque policies and procedures.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the manager or supervisor on duty.
Requirements & Qualifications
- O.S.S.D. or equivalent recognized by the Ministry of Education.
- Three (3) years of experience in a high-volume restaurant preferred.
- Smart Serve Certification required.
- Safe Food Handling Certification preferred.
- Energetic, enthusiastic, and self-directed personality.
- Willing to be closely supervised, accept training, and share best practices.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of additional languages is an asset.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with guests and coworkers.
- Service-oriented attitude, actively seeking to help others.
- The work may be strenuous and in warm environments; extended periods of standing are required.
- Ability to lift furniture and heavy items up to 35 pounds (16 kg).
- Flexible availability, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays, especially during July & August.
- Wear non-slip footwear during shifts.
- If required, wear additional PPE (gloves, weather-appropriate attire, sun protection).
