Job summary

Seasonal Employment – Public Works Summer Labourer(s)

The Town of Wasaga Beach is now accepting resumes for Summer Public Works Labourer(s). This is a great opportunity to work outdoors, gain hands-on experience, and contribute to keeping our community clean and beautiful.

Position Overview
  • Collecting roadside and beachfront litter
  • Emptying garbage and recycling bins
  • Inspecting storm catch basins, outlets, ponds, and trail systems
  • Assisting with tree and brush clean-up
  • Painting fire hydrants, sewer stacks, sign posts, and building structures
  • Supporting beachfront clean-up and municipal road maintenance
  • Performing other Public Works-related duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Preference given to students enrolled full-time in secondary or post-secondary programs for the next academic year
  • Strong public relations and communication skills
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, including days, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays
  • Physically capable of performing manual labour, including heavy lifting and working in all weather conditions
  • Experience in road maintenance and use of hand tools is an asset
  • Strong knowledge of the Town of Wasaga Beach is an asset
  • Valid First Aid and CPR certification preferred
  • Valid Class “G” Ontario driver’s license preferred
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with initiative and a great attitude
  • Ability to provide a satisfactory criminal record check and driver’s abstract upon hire
