Title: Manager, Global Security Operations Centre

Leads and oversees the Security Operations Centre / Corporate Security in Canada ensuring businessstrategies, plans and initiatives are executed / delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internalpolicies, and procedures.The Security Operations Centre (SOC) is the initial point of intake for the effective oversight and triage of allincidents or events reported to Corporate Security Canada.This role is accountable for supporting the strategic priorities of Corporate Security, including accountability forproviding advice, guidance, and direction on a range of issues and initiatives aimed to meet partner’s needs,and minimize financial, operational, and reputational risk to Scotiabank.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank and other FI network relationships, systems, and knowledge. Provides ongoing coaching and mentoring to the team.
  • Oversee operational activities related to the detection, intake, analysis, and response to incidents received from internal and external sources, ensuring incidents are prioritized and escalated appropriately and efficiently. Assists the team to assess risk and provide effective risk mitigation initiatives during the intake triage process and provides guidance where required.
  • Create and maintain standards, processes, and procedures to ensure a high standard in incident management, information retrieval, documentation, and escalation to teams internal and external to Corporate Security.
  • Implement and maintain systems used in the prevention,, analysis, and response to incidents which impact, or have the potential to impact, Scotiabank employees, clients, or assets.
  • Recognizes and keeps up to date on fraud, loss events, or other trends as they occur or are reported to the Security Operations Centre and assists their team to do so as they execute their responsibilities, ensuring matters are referred to leadership where required.
  • Supports development and implementation of continuous improvements to business processes and procedures in collaboration with key partners in the Bank designed to prevent, detect, and respond to maximize efficiency.
  • Manages own personal development and that of the team to ensure knowledge and skills relative to their roles are continually enhanced by:
  • Regularly reviewing internal Scotiabank resources for updates to policies and procedures
  • Utilizing me@scotiabank to complete compulsory courses to meet regulatory and Scotiabank requirements and to complete optional courses to enhance/develop knowledge and skills relative to their role
  • Keeping apprised of initiatives and trends related to their current role
  • Maintains high standards of quality control, as the accuracy and thoroughness of reporting will be relied upon by Corporate Security leadership to make critical decisions.
  • Understands how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Creates an environment in which their team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
  • Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviours; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and managing succession and development planning for the team.
  • Develop and manage employees by creating a challenging and motivating work environment, provide appropriate training, performance assessments and career guidance.
  • Maintain a team environment and spirit that enhances both team and individual performance.
  • Develop the annual performance objectives for team members and track performance against goals/objectives, and report regularly to the Manager, Security Operations.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • Post-secondary degree and/or university/college courses in business law or law enforcement or equivalent training and experience. Courses in investigative, interviewing and negotiating.
  • Accreditations such as CFE, CAMS, CFCS are desirable.
  • Minimum 3 years of recent experience in a management capacity investigating increasingly financial-crimes role in an area such as Corporate Security/Fraud/AML using a central intake model of engagement.
  • Experience in training, coaching, developing, and mentoring a team.
  • Thorough knowledge of investigative practices, methods, and enforcement strategies.
  • Working knowledge of the Financial Services Industry, federal and local laws, financial crime typologies and regulatory environment in Canada
  • Working knowledge of the judiciary system in Canada, both criminal and civil processes and the rules surrounding the admissibility of evidence.
  • Working knowledge of Bank IT applications, systems, and security controls.
  • Thorough knowledge of Scotiabank’s organizational structure, and familiarity with policies and procedures in key stakeholder groups.
  • Experience in preparing briefing material for senior management to inform and advise of investigative findings
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
  • QA implementation and oversight experience.
  • Possesses highest ethical standards and experience working with sensitive and confidential information
