As the Crown Land Surveyor 1(A)-(B)-2(A)-(B) you are a land management professional, performing technical standard survey work; responsible for the establishment, and maintenance of the boundaries and all other survey related matters with respect to the portion of the 3.8 million acres of Crown Land administered by the Department of Natural Resources and Renewables that lie within their respective district.
Serving as the region’s land management professional, managing the Crown Land Survey Program including all professional survey services and related administrative services for a large geographic area of the province.
As a Surveyor I(A), you have a Certificate of Completion from the Canadian Board of Examiners for Professional Surveyors (CBEPS) or equivalency as accepted by the Association of Nova Scotia Surveyors (ANSLS). in addition, you must be registered as a Candidate Member with ANSLS; or is eligible and willing to be registered as a Candidate Member if currently or previously registered or licensed to practise professional land surveying in another jurisdiction in or outside of Canada.
As a Surveyor 2(A), you are registered as an Active Member with the Association of Nova Scotia Surveyors (ANSLS); or is eligible and willing to be registered as an Active Member if currently or previously registered or licensed to practice professional land surveying in another jurisdiction in or outside of Canada.
Candidates who are identifying equivalences to the above qualifications must provide supporting documentation.
To be considered for this opportunity, you possess significant initiative, exercise sound judgement and bring creativeness to your work to determine needs and priorities for the Survey Program and to incorporate goals for these into the work plan. Attention to detail is essential in this role to ensure and certify the boundaries of Crown Land are accurately located. Strong communication (written and verbal) and relationship building skills are essential to work with both internal and external stakeholders.
We will assess the above qualifications using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.

Long periods of time outdoors in all types of extreme weather in areas often accessible only by long walks.
Occasionally will be required to travel to remote areas by helicopter, snowmobile, ATV, boat or canoe.
This is a permanent, full-time position based in Bible Hill, Nova Scotia.
Pay Grade: PR 07- PR 13
Salary Range: $2,004.96- $3,107.16 Bi-Weekly
