Under the general supervision of the Moose Cree Sports & Recreation Coordinator, the Community Mentor will conduct and develop recreational programming for Moose Cree membership. The program will focus on recreational activities, that enhance the quality of life of Moose Cree Members by offering programs that benefit our people’s holistic health and well-being by providing the space and programs for individuals to live well.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• College diploma or University degree in a sport & recreation or social work program will be preferred.
• Mental Health First Aid First Nations Certification preferred or willing to obtain within 6 months of employment.
• First Aid/CPR Certification or willing to obtain.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with children, youth, and families.
• Experience coordinating and developing programs.
• Experience & ability to work out on the land.
• Ability to build trust and rapport with community and maintain confidentiality.
• Empathy and understanding of diverse community dynamics.
• Knowledge of child development.
• Familiarity with community resources and services.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong organizational, time management, and documentation skills.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Cultural competence and sensitivity.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure and changing environments.
• Experience with computer software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, EMR)
• Criminal record check including Vulnerable Sector clearance is required prior to hiring.
• G Class Driver’s License preferred.

Duration: 6-month term with possibility of extension
