A health service provider in Viking, Alberta is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Viking Health Centre. This role involves providing comprehensive patient care, including assessment, planning, and implementation, while promoting health and safety standards. Viking Health Centre has an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse! You will be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of quality care following policies and guidelines of Alberta Health Services. You will also demonstrate genuine interest and respect for our patients and utilize your knowledge, skills, and abilities to competently provide direct patient and family centered care. Utilizing your strong communication, critical thinking and problem‑solving skills to provide care to clients across the life span. You will ensure the development, implementation and ongoing administration of the client care plans. You will assess, coordinate, supervise, administer and evaluate the provision of health services and health care resources. You will also accept responsibility for continuing competencies through ongoing professional development, including participation in education programs and continuous quality activities. This position includes day, evening and night shifts. Whether you live in Viking or the surrounding area, you will enjoy the rural agricultural setting of the Town of Viking, within Beaver County. Surrounded by grain and cereal crops, the agricultural landscape bursts with energy in the spring, and the vibrant bright colours of harvest in the fall. In the winter months the community bustles with sports and activities. This community, within reach of larger centres is located south‑east of Edmonton, Alberta on Highway 14 about 120 km, truly is the picture of a rural Alberta town as it continues to grow and thrive.
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well‑being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centred care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 – $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. As Required.
Minimum of 2 years within the last 5 years working in Acute Care Setting. Certifications: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC). Neonatal Resuscitation Program Certification (NRP). Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale (CTAS). Obstetrical Experience.
