Title: Industrial Painter
Reports to: Afternoon Shift Assembly Supervisor

The Painter is responsible for preparing all surfaces and applying a wide array of coatings to obtain high-quality finishes within the company’s designated ‘paint booth’ work areas. In this role, you will have the opportunity to ensure and grow an effective and efficient fabrication and assembly operation that meets safety, quality, and production standards while working in tandem with other manufacturing teams for Armstrong’s product line.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cleans and prepares surfaces by sanding, scraping, and grinding as needed.
- Paints surfaces of manufactured products with primer and electrostatic paint using spray applicator.
- Manipulates sprayer valves and nozzle to regulate width and pressure according to efficient painting methods guidelines.
- Applies protective coating to a variety of metal surfaces.
- Monitors extractors, drying fans, and heaters.
- Boards and masks areas that are not to be coated, as designated or instructed.
- Coats areas inaccessible to spray applicator or requiring touch up using brush or spray can.
- Cleans spraying equipment, brushes, hoses and all other painting equipment using solvent-based cleaner.
- Changes paint booth filters and floor coverings as per the prescribed procedure and frequency.
- Operates moving and lifting equipment including pallet truck and jib-crane to safely and efficiently move product inside and outside of paint booth.
- Ensure all waste is properly labelled, stored, and disposed of.
- Maintain paint booth and associated equipment to ensure proper working conditions.
- Follows and complies with all operational procedures and health & safety policies as outlined in handbook and Quality and Environment programs (i.e. IATF, ISO 14001).
- Perform other duties as assigned, including working overtime as needed.
What We’re Looking For:
To thrive in this role, you should bring:
- High School diploma or GED.
- Minimum 1 year experience in spray painting in an industrial paint-booth environment.
- Prior experience with electrostatic paint considered an asset.
- Experience using small hand and power tools.
- Comfortable standing for long periods of time with periodic bending, twisting, crouching, pushing, and pulling.
- Experience in using overhead jib-cranes required. Additional training will be provided.
- Experience operating lifting and moving equipment, including manual and power-pallet truck.
- Ability to safely lift up to 50lbs.
- Strong verbal communication in English.
- Capable of working collaboratively and efficiently with others.
