The Associate Director; Software Renewals establishes and implements hardware and software acquisition, protection, maintenance, and retention policies, standards and procedures that are aligned with IT standards and strategy. This role requires a solid understanding of how organization capabilities interrelate across departments and leads the strategic oversight and execution of software renewal activities across Humana’s enterprise, ensuring optimal value from software investments, mitigating risk, and aligning renewal strategies with business and IT priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end software renewal lifecycle for enterprise applications and platforms.
- Develop and execute renewal strategies aligned with Humana’s technology roadmap, budget, and compliance requirements.
- Establish governance frameworks for software renewals, including escalation paths, approval workflows, and renewal thresholds.
- Partner with IT, Legal, Finance, and business partners to ensure timely, cost-effective renewals.
- Negotiate with suppliers to secure favorable terms, pricing, and compliance.
- Maintain a centralized renewal calendar and proactively manage upcoming renewals.
- Analyze software usage, licensing models, and contract terms to identify optimization opportunities.
- Ensure adherence to internal procurement policies and external regulatory requirements.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to renewal associates.
- Influence and collaborate with peers across the IT Procurement & Supplier Management team.
- Analyze software spend and identify cost-saving opportunities to maximize ROI.
- Develop risk- and probability-adjusted multi-year savings forecasts and annual savings goals.
- Support enterprise transformation initiatives by aligning renewal strategies with cloud migration, digital modernization, and platform consolidation efforts.
- Leverage internal and external resources to deliver results efficiently.
- Oversee supplier analysis including capabilities, goals, risk profile, and financial health.
- Stay informed on industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive offerings.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to align procurement with organizational strategies.
- Develop multi-year sourcing pipelines that drive total value, including cost savings and supplier innovation.
- Drive compliance with preferred-supplier programs through change management and communications.
- Coordinate with Procurement Operations and Corporate Account Payables to ensure seamless associate experience.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to streamline renewal processes, reduce cycle times, and enhance stakeholder satisfaction.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferably in a business or technical discipline and/or equivalent work experience.
- 8 or more years of experience in Procurement of IT systems and/or software.
- 5+ years of experience managing and leading teams.
- Indirect Procurement experience identifying potential ‘best fit’ suppliers for internal business partner needs.
- Experience developing strategy, negotiating contracts and managing supplier relationships.
- Knowledgeable in project management methodologies, tools, understanding of IT products and services, including software, hardware, and cloud solutions.
- Business analysis skills to drive and implement sourcing programs and services aligned with business partners strategies.
- Strong financial and business acumen (understanding/ability to communicate ‘revenue recognition’, SLA’s, to external partners).
- Effectiveness in working collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Outstanding communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills, including assertiveness, courage, and the ability to influence others.
- Excellent relationship management skills, demonstrating mature confidence and integrity.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, both as a lead and as a part of a team.
- Ability to work in a team environment to collate and act upon feedback from all levels within the business and sourcing environments.
- Be able to assimilate, analyze, draw conclusions, and make recommendations from multi-faceted and often ambiguous data.
- Flexible and willing to learn new skill sets quickly as the need arises.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree or equivalent.
- PMP certification.
- Professional certifications such as Certified Purchasing Professional (CPP), Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), or Certified Procurement Professional (CPP).
- Experience with e-procurement and contract lifecycle management systems such as Coupa Sourcing, Icertis, SFDC Lightning CRM.
- Experience with IT management systems such as LeanIX, SAMPro, NextThink.
- Experience working in healthcare and/or another highly regulated industry.
Travel: While this is a remote position, occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required.
Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 hours.
Pay Range: $126,300 - $173,700 per year. This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan.
