Overview

Location: Location: Home-based remote position. TECHNICAL SERVICES MANAGER – Grasslands Recruitment Specialists is recruiting a full-time, remote Technical Services Manager for ruminant food production animals. This remote position is home office-based from anywhere in Ontario, with Western Canadian provinces or the US as alternative locations, and will work for a leading global brand in the nutritional feed additive and functional food ingredient sector. The essential function of the role is to provide technical support to the sales and marketing teams, existing clients, and potential customers throughout the Canadian, US and international animal feed and functional food industries.

This is an addition to the company’s Canadian team and will enhance their existing presence across all species groups, with a growing emphasis on ruminants, by focusing on nutritional review and support, technical sales support, and further research and development.

The opportunity is an excellent fit for those with an existing profile in the feed industry combined with an active technical sales and business development approach, a strong marketing-toward-commercialization mindset, a solid understanding of ruminant and monogastric species’ nutritional requirements and an appreciation of the value of enriched functional foods in human health and wellness.

Responsibilities

This Technical Services Manager collaborates with the VP Sales and Marketing and other management to support technical, marketing and research initiatives. Responsibilities include providing technical support for use of a protected Omega-3 fat source in ruminant nutrition and in value-added food products, supporting customers and technical colleagues in Canada, the USA and internationally, and assisting with marketing activities such as website content, e-marketing campaigns, and the development of standards booklets and wire-frames for internal and external blogs and news releases to facilitate branding of Omega-3 foods through technical support. R&D involvement is part of the role but not the sole focus.

Qualifications
  • Nutritional knowledge for livestock health (production/conception/immunity) and for value-added food product development (Omega-3 beef and dairy products) is ideal.
  • Post-secondary education (B.Sc. or M.Sc.) in animal nutrition, complemented with a business background.
  • Minimum 10 years of successful experience in the animal nutrition industry.
  • Animal agriculture background with working knowledge of supply channels (integrators, feed companies, veterinarians, nutritionists).
  • Understanding of and appreciation for value-added functional foods and their benefits to human health.
  • Highly motivated self-starter, productive and capable of working independently while collaborating with internal partners.
  • Proven communication, presentation, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Business development, marketing and account management aptitude.
