This role is with our F500 consulting client, working with one of their key customers in Canada. It is fully remote, but candidates must be authorized to work in Canada.

Department Overview: Enterprise Technology & Services (ETS) delivers shared technology services for a major financial client, supporting all business applications and end users. ETS provides capabilities for all stages of the software development lifecycle, enabling productive coding, testing, application releases, and ongoing monitoring and support for over 3,000 production applications. ETS also delivers workplace technologies (desktop, mobile, voice, video, productivity, intranet/internet) in integrated configurations to boost employee productivity. Application and end-user functions are delivered on a scalable, secure, and reliable infrastructure composed of datacenter, network, compute, cloud, storage, and database functions.

Our Team: Mainframe Computing (MC) is a technology enabler providing a resilient and stable platform to host and enable business innovation/growth across locations. MC consists of experienced staff supporting the platform, working with the latest hardware and software technologies, including IBM z platform and mainframe disk and tape technologies.

Mainframe CICS Engineer: The CICS Systems Programmer manages all phases of CICS engineering, system and software maintenance, and operation functions. The candidate must be comfortable working with CICS in a 24x7 large-scale Sysplex and CICSPlex environment, interfacing with application developers and operations teams. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, along with in-depth knowledge of CICS performance & tuning, debugging, and dump analysis, are required. On-call support outside normal hours is also needed.

Skills Required:

• Knowledge of SMP/E, software upgrades, and maintenance
• Knowledge of CICS parameters controlling performance in a CICSPlex environment
• Knowledge of CICS SMF record structure and Performance Analyzer tools
• Experience with CICSPlex SM implementation & customization, dynamic transaction routing, etc.
• Knowledge of CICS resource definitions and performance tuning
• Experience with CICS monitoring tools such as Sysview for CICS
• Ability to perform problem determination, dump analysis, and performance tuning
• Knowledge of Cobol to support application developers
• Experience with Mainframe Websphere MQ
• Good oral and written communication skills

Skills Desired:

• Assembler, COBOL, and REXX coding; knowledge of CICS Exits
• Web application support in CICS TS V5.x and/or V6.x environments
• Understanding of zOS facilities such as APF, Linklist, VSAM, LPA, RLS, Coupling Facility
• Utilization of CICS Configuration Manager
• Working knowledge of zOS & CICS Explorer
• Understanding of CICS REST Services
• Prior application programming experience is a plus
