A leading automotive company is seeking an Operations Support Specialist in St. Catharines, Canada. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting IT systems, supporting end-user devices, and ensuring compliance with established guidelines. Applicants should have a college diploma or equivalent experience, along with 3-5 years in IT support within an enterprise environment. This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to St. Catharine's GPS on a full-time basis.
As an Operations Support Specialist, you will be responsible for maintaining, analyzing, troubleshooting, and repairing computer systems, hardware, and peripherals. You will also document, maintain, upgrade, and replace hardware and software systems as needed.
This role requires familiarity with a broad range of IT concepts, practices, and procedures.

Perform tasks under the direction of the Site IT Manager, following established guidelines
Fulfill all responsibilities associated with the IT Operations Specialist role.
Maintain, analyze, troubleshoot, and repair computer systems, hardware, and peripherals
Build and configure client systems (PCs, laptops, printers, wireless devices, tablets) according to standard procedures
Maintain accurate asset management records for all IT equipment
Leverage corporate IT tools for remote device management and user support
Support GM-managed LAN network infrastructure hardware (Access network hardware on mezzanine-level platforms using ladders or stairs as needed)
Provide support for teleconferencing devices
Maintain GM Best practice audit items, Documentation, Compliance Checks, Evidence Collection and Continuous improvement.
Uses effective written and verbal communication to collaborate with cross‑functional teams and facilitate discussions that prioritize customer needs.
Intermediate knowledge of the ITIL framework, with the ability to apply service management principles to streamline IT operations, including incident, change, and problem management.
Advanced proficiency in configuring, troubleshooting, and optimizing computerized systems, including desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and peripheral hardware across diverse environments.
Advanced understanding of remote support tools and incident ticketing systems, enabling efficient resolution of technical issues, accurate documentation, and effective communication with end users and support teams.
Successly obtained a College Diploma or University Degree in a related field and / or equivalent experience.
Possess 3-5 years of IT experience supporting end-user devices in an enterprise environment. (PC, printers, scanners, mobile phones, tablets, etc.)
Experience with basic network concepts
Ability to work on rotating shifts, Weekends and Holidays when required.
Demonstrates excellent analytical thinking, effective communication, and strong interpersonal skills.
Hands‑on IT support experience in manufacturing or industrial environments
Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing PCs, laptops, tablets, printers, and peripherals
Strong Windows support skills, including remote assistance and desktop management
Working knowledge of LAN/WAN, wireless and TCP/IP protocols.
Familiarity with IT security tools and practices
Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and collaboration abilities
Ability to support Android, Apple and Windows devices in enterprise environments
The ability to work effectively with and as part of a team, fostering collaboration, accountability, and shared success.
