A leading national accounting firm in Canada is looking for a bookkeeper to join their Assurance and Accounting team. The successful candidate will manage financial information, prepare client files, and handle government remittances. Ideal candidates will possess an accounting certificate, advanced French skills, and relevant experience in accounting. This role offers competitive compensation and a supportive team environment.

- Up to 5 years of relevant accounting experience is needed.
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles and processes is essential.
- Experience with accounting software is required.
- Experience preparing T4 and T5 slips is considered beneficial.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and update government remittances and filings, accounts receivable, expenses, and payroll transactions.
- Prepare client files for review.
- Perform month-end and quarter-end close processes.
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
- Identify and investigate discrepancies and errors.
- Respond to information requests from government entities.
- Work collaboratively with the engagement team.
- Travel as necessary for engagements.

- Prepare and update government remittances and filings, accounts receivable, expenses, accounts payable and payroll transactions.
- Prepare client files.
- Perform the month‑end and quarter‑end close process.
- Maintain, monitor and reconcile general ledger accounts including cash, bank reconciliations, prepaid expenses, accounts receivable, accounts payable, accrued liabilities, intercompany transactions and point of sale/system uploads.
- Identify issues and errors, investigate discrepancies and discuss with managers or engagement partners to develop solutions.
- Respond to information requests from various levels of government.
- Work collaboratively with the engagement team.
- Maintain flexibility to travel, as necessary.
- Accounting certificate
- Advanced knowledge of French
- Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) designation is considered an asset
- Up to 5 years of relevant accounting experience
- Working knowledge of basic accounting principles and processes
- Experience using accounting software
- Experience preparing T4 and T5 slips is considered an asset
