Position Number: 00025652

Description:

About us:

St. George Transportation Services is part of Spaces and Experiences, which is a division of University Operations and Real Estate Partnerships. The department operates 38 surface lots and 12 underground garages, providing 2,560 parking spaces for faculty, staff, students, and visitors. Additionally there are two Level 2 electric vehicle charging stations at both the BCIT and 107 St. George Street garages, and forty-eight spots at the new Landmark garage. The mission of Transportation Services is to provide effective parking services to the University community.

Transportation Services is both responsible for the administration and enforcement of all parking. As such, this position requires routinely liaising with other departments and individuals, both members of the University community as well as the general public, to assist with their parking needs.

Working in Transportation Services provides the incumbent with the opportunity to work in a small, cohesive team. While each team member has dedicated responsibilities, colleagues work together closely on a daily basis to bring projects to fruition. Reporting to the Business Officer of Transportation Services with direction from the Administrative and Financial Assistant, the incumbent will assist with the daily oversight and processing of online permit purchases, provide prompt and responsive customer service, maintain information in databases and digital platforms, as well as trouble shoot and resolve technical issues with our online sales platform.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Responding to enquiries within the defined scope of the role and redirecting as appropriate
  • Collecting and filing parking requests and applications
  • Verifying the accuracy and completeness of sales records and deposits
  • Liaising with clients to resolve minor complaints and resolve minor technical issues with online sales
  • Applying established standards when issuing parking permits
  • Creating and managing parking events within the internal system
  • Generating standard financial reports, including preparing deposit reports, journal entries and invoices and uploading to FIS
  • Maintaining information on digital platforms

Essential Qualifications:

  • College Diploma (2 years) or acceptable combination of equivalent education and experience.
  • Minimum two (2) years experience with front line customer service and sales
  • Demonstrated experience maintaining information on digital platforms
  • Experience generating standard financial reports, including preparing deposit reports, journal entries and invoices
  • Intermediate proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite (particularly in Word, Excel, and Outlook), along with SAP
  • Familiarity with on-line payment systems
  • Excellent organizational, multi-tasking and time-management skills and the ability to appropriately prioritize tasks
  • Skilled in handling multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining meticulous attention to detail
  • An excellent communicator and able to demonstrate exceptional interpersonal and communications skills (verbal and written)

Assets (Nonessential):

  • Experience with database management

To be successful in this role you will be:

  • Accountable
  • Motivated self-learner
  • Multi-tasker
  • Organized
  • Team player

Please note:

  • This is a term position for 20 months
