What You’ll Bring

Required:

  • B.Sc. in Toxicology, Biochemistry, or related field with substantial practical experience.
  • 8+ years of consulting experience in human health risk assessment for environmental assessments.
  • Deep knowledge of Health Canada and provincial regulatory frameworks.
  • Proven ability to lead technical deliverables for environmental assessments and permit applications.
  • Eligibility for credentials as a Qualified Professional for regulatory oversight.

Preferred:

  • M.Sc. in Toxicology, Biochemistry, or related discipline.
  • 10+ years of consulting experience, including leadership roles.
  • Experience with First Nations engagement and regulatory review processes.
  • Familiarity with Ontario risk assessment processes (O.Reg. 153/04) and contaminated site assessments.
  • Qualified Person for Risk Assessment (QPRA) designation in Ontario.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and expand ERM’s human health risk assessment services across Canada.
  • Ensure technical quality of modeling and reporting deliverables.
  • Develop proposals, scopes, and cost estimates; contribute to business development.
  • Guide junior team members and build a high‑performing technical team.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Support client compliance strategies and long‑term monitoring recommendations.
  • Engage with regulators, Indigenous groups, and stakeholders to build trust and transparency.

For the Technical Director, Human Health Risk Assessment position, the anticipated annual base pay is $147,393 – $164,676 (CAD). Actual pay will depend on factors such as education, experience, skills, location, performance, and business needs. In some cases, pay may fall outside this range. This role may be eligible for bonus pay (casual and fixed term/flex force employees are not bonus eligible).
