Overview

MatchBox Consulting Group is working with a fast-growing real estate and property management firm based in Surrey to hire a Senior Property Accountant. This role will not only handle full-cycle property accounting but also play a leadership role, mentoring three junior accountants and acting as a key bridge between the Finance Director and the accounting team.

This is an opportunity to join a company at an exciting stage of growth — currently a team of 30, with plans to expand to 200 employees in the next five years. The organization has immediate expansion plans creating significant room for career progression.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and report on financial operations for a portfolio of commercial properties across Metro Vancouver
  • Prepare monthly reporting packages, financial statements, balance sheets, and cash flow forecasts
  • Perform full-cycle property accounting including A / P, A / R, journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
  • Review, analyze, and report on operating expenses and annual recovery reconciliations
  • Set up new lease agreements in Yardi and onboard new properties independently
  • Partner with property managers on budget preparation and provide financial guidance
  • Support year-end audits and ensure compliance with financial controls
  • Mentor and oversee junior property accountants, ensuring timely and accurate deliverables
Qualifications
  • Post-secondary diploma in Accounting (CPA designation an asset)
  • 10+ years of commercial property accounting experience
  • Strong knowledge of Yardi Voyager (5+ years preferred)
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growing environment
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to mentor and guide team members
