About the Role
Worley is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Estimator to support construction estimating activities for Shell at the Scotford site near Edmonton, Alberta. This is a secondment role, directly supporting Shell’s project teams with a focus on detailed Class 3 and fallout estimates.
The ideal candidate will bring significant expertise in industrial electrical and instrumentation systems and be capable of working in a team environment to generate accurate, defensible estimates that support project planning and budgeting.
Key Responsibilities
· Develop Class 3 and fallout detail cost estimates for continuing capital projects and new build projects, involving electrical and instrumentation scopes.
· Conduct field/site walks to assess physical conditions, validate quantities, and collect estimating inputs. This may involve climbing stairs or ladders to access project areas.
· Interface directly with Shell project teams, engineering disciplines, and construction stakeholders to gather information and align estimate assumptions.
· Interpret project drawings, specifications, and scope documents to develop detailed estimates.
· Maintain proficiency with Shell-specific estimating methodologies and tools.
· Provide clear documentation, rationale, and backup for all estimates produced.
· Review supplier quotes and vendor pricing for electrical equipment and instrumentation materials.
· Support value engineering, constructability reviews, and change order pricing as required.
Technical Expertise Requirements
A working knowledge including the construction installation and commissioning actions required for the following electrical equipment is required:
· Transformers (Step-Up/Step-Down)
· Switchgear (Circuit Breakers, Fuses, Disconnects)
· Motor Control Centers (MCCs)
· Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
· Power Distribution Systems
· Emergency Power Systems (Generators, UPS)
· Lighting Systems
Bulk electrical and Instrumentation materials:
· Installation methods used for E&I bulk materials
A working knowledge including the construction installation and commissioning actions required for the following instrumentation equipment is required:
· Sensors, Transmitters, Actuators, Control Valves
· Pressure, Temperature, Flow, and Level Measurement Instruments
· Data Acquisition and Control Systems
· Display and Recording Devices
Qualifications
· Extensive experience in electrical and instrumentation estimating in the industrial sector.
· Proven experience generating detailed estimates for oil & gas, petrochemical, or heavy industrial facilities.
· Strong knowledge of estimating tools, methodologies, and cost databases.
· Ability to perform physical site walks in an industrial setting (including climbing ladders or stairs).
· Effective communicator, with the ability to interface professionally with client stakeholders.
· Proficiency with industry standard estimating software (e.g., Aspen Capital Cost Estimator is an asset).
· CET, CEC, PSQ, or relevant trade/electrical designation is an asset.
