Overview

As per the Canada-Ontario Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care (CWELCC) Agreement, Ontario is committed to enhance its existing data collection tools to support reporting to the federal government on key indicators associated with a CWELCC system. The Child Care and Early Years (CCEY) IT modernization initiative is focused on developing a new and modernized IT solution and related business processes to support the child care and early years sector, including families, child care and early years operators and service system managers (SSMs) across Ontario. The CCEY Alpha phase will provide the required activities needed to progress the user research discovery findings, user service design deliverables and prototypes.

Description

Responsibilities:

Create effective, user friendly and visually appealing interfaces. Design the overall functionality of the product in order to ensure a great user experience, iterate upon it in accordance with user-testing. Design user interfaces for various projects such as digital displays, publications, media, and other creative materials as required. Take a user-centered design approach and rapidly test and iterate the designs. Conceive and conduct user research, interviews and surveys, and translating them into sitemaps, user flows, customer journey maps, wireframes, mockups and prototypes

A portfolio or example of previous work will be required.

Service Design Skills 60%

  • Human-centred design experience and expertise in developing and executing strategies that improve overall user interactions with digital products and services.
  • User experience /content design and strategy principles, methodologies, and techniques, including accessibility, information architecture, research methodologies and techniques.
  • Demonstrated experience creating design deliverables such as mood boards, collaboration boards, empathy maps, user flows, wireframes, and mock-ups.
  • A solid understanding of generative and evaluative user research assessment and how user research can be incorporated continuously in the digital product lifecycle.
  • Hands-on experience creating user research plans, recruiting participants, analyzing findings and delivering insights.

Analytical and Problem solving / General Skills 35%

  • Assess client business requirements and emerging trends in digital communications to determine optimal website design structures, features and content.
  • Ability to communicate visually as well as in verbal and written formats.
  • Relationship building skills to liaise with external partners and stakeholders.

Public Sector Experience 5%
