Job Summary

Position is responsible for providing professional nursing care to individuals including the intravenous or injection administration of specialty pharmaceutical products. The nurse will help to promote patient health by completing health assessments prior to treatment, reviews patient files and collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary team members as required. The end goal is to provide medical therapies or self-administration teaching to patients in clinic, home or virtual setting.

  • Review patient files to understand patient’s history.
  • Assess the health status of patients using a pre-screening process that covers contraindications, objective and subjective data, to determine eligibility in receiving medical therapies.
  • Handle and reconstitute specialty pharmaceuticals as per manufacturer product monograph and Heath Canada guidelines.
  • Follow cold chain requirements for medication as per INVIVA policies and procedures and the manufacturers recommendation.
  • As required, insertion of peripheral intravenous or establishing access via central lines based on best practice standards.
  • Follow patient specific medical directives for administration and treatment of adverse events.
  • Provide monitoring during and post medication administration.
  • Follow all INVIVA policies and procedures.
  • Report adverse events in accordance with manufacturer specific requirements, Health Canada and INVIVA policies and procedures.
  • Promote patient independence for self-injection when required by answering questions and teaching patients to understand their condition and medication.
  • Document patient care services and managing records in accordance with INVIVA policies and procedures.
  • Maintain knowledge of medical therapies as per manufacturer’s Product Monograph.
  • Participate in drug and clinic audits upon request.

Sommaire du poste

Le/la titulaire de ce poste est responsable de fournir des soins infirmiers professionnels aux personnes, y compris l’administration intraveineuse ou par injection de produits pharmaceutiques spécialisés. L’infirmier/infirmière aidera à favoriser la santé des patients en effectuant des évaluations de santé avant le traitement, en examinant les dossiers des patients et en collaborant avec les médecins et les membres de l’équipe multidisciplinaire, au besoin. L’objectif final est de fournir des traitements médicaux ou un enseignement sur l’auto-administration de soins aux patients en clinique, à domicile ou dans un environnement virtuel.

Responsabilités spécifiques

  • Examiner les dossiers des patients pour connaître les antécédents du patient.
  • Évaluer l’état de santé des patients en utilisant un processus de sélection qui couvre les contre-indications, les données objectives et subjectives, pour déterminer l’admissibilité à la réception de traitements médicaux.
  • Manipuler et reconstituer les produits pharmaceutiques spécialisés conformément à la monographie de produit du fabricant et aux directives de Santé Canada.
  • Respecter les exigences de la chaîne du froid pour les médicaments conformément aux politiques et procédures d’INVIVA et à la recommandation des fabricants.
  • Au besoin, insérer l’intraveineuse périphérique ou mettre en place un accès par voies centrales selon les normes des bonnes pratiques.
  • Suivre les directives médicales spécifiques au patient pour l’administration et le traitement des événements indésirables.
  • Assurer une surveillance pendant et après l’administration du médicament.
  • Suivre toutes les politiques et procédures d’INVIVA.
  • Signaler des événements indésirables conformément aux exigences spécifiques du fabricant, Santé Canada et aux politiques et procédures d’INVIVA.
  • Élaborer un plan de soins aux patients.
  • Au besoin, promouvoir l’indépendance du patient pour l’auto-injection en répondant à ses questions et enseigner aux patients à comprendre leur état et leurs médicaments.
  • Documenter les services de soins aux patients et gérer les dossiers conformément aux politiques et procédures d’INVIVA.
  • Maintenir la connaissance des thérapies médicales selon la monographie de produit du fabricant.
  • Participer aux vérifications de médicaments et de cliniques sur demande.
  • Participer activement à la formation et au parrainage du nouveau personnel de la clinique.
  • Compléter la formation requise par INVIVA sur les produits et les services, les politiques et procédures, la technologie, l’assurance qualité et les communications.
  • Maintenir des normes de qualité, de sécurité et de contrôle des infections pour assurer une pratique sécuritaire en soins infirmiers.

Éducation formelle

  • Infirmier/infirmière autorisé(e) en règle avec l’Ordre des infirmières et infirmiers provincial
  • Baccalauréat ès sciences en soins infirmiers ou diplôme de deux ans en soins infirmiers
  • Deux ans et plus d’expérience en soins aux patients en phase critique (salle d’urgence et service des soins intensifs) est un atout
  • Expérience en gastroentérologie, en rhumatologie, en hématologie, en oncologie et en neurologie est un atout

  • Attestation de compétence en RCR
  • Une certification en technique spécialisée de réanimation cardio-respiratoire/soins avancés en réanimation pédiatrique est un atout
