Join our Finance Team as a Payroll and Accounting Coordinator.

The Payroll and Accounting Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and managing the payroll and accounting processes. This role involves ensuring accurate and timely payroll transactions, compliance with relevant regulations, managing financial accounts and contributing to the smooth operation of the Finance Division.

What is expected of me in this role?

Payroll Coordinator

Prepare, verify and process all employee payroll-related payments, including regular pay, benefit payments, and special payments such as Gratuities and commissions.

Prepare payroll-related filings and supporting documentation, such as year-end tax statements, records of Employment and other statements.

Identify and resolve payroll discrepancies

Report monthly WSIB premiums.

Report RRSP and benefits deductions to the benefits provider every pay period.

Responsible for some Accounts Payable functions such as coding, scanning and submission of invoices/receipts for postings, recordkeeping, filing and other clerical tasks.

Correspond with external vendors and suppliers to acquire and check monthly statements.

Order and replenish cash and perform periodic cash count.

Daily input and update cash and tips data on the spreadsheet and cross-check with POS reports.

Ensure Purchase Card reports with support documents are submitted by department heads at the month's end. Check if all receipts are attached.

Assists and updates the listing of pending invoices for accrual at month ends.

All other ad hoc tasks assigned by the Department Head as required.

Experience & Qualifications

2+ years of experience processing payroll in an electronic payroll environment is preferred

Degree in business administration, finance, or accounting would be an asset.

One year of experience in human resources or accounting preferred

  • Prior Hotel Knowledge would be an asset
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, Word, Outlook & Ceridian .
  • Exposure to Opera Cloud, Micros POS and Kronos Time and Attendance would be beneficial but could be learned
  • Ability to communicate with other colleagues and managers, strong organization skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multi-task with ease.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
  • Detail-oriented and enjoy a fast-paced environment that includes deadlines and the need for accuracy
