Job summary

A mechanical engineering services provider in Brampton is seeking a qualified Industrial Mechanic. The ideal candidate will have a valid Ontario Industrial Mechanic License (433A) and at least 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment. Responsibilities include maintaining machinery, troubleshooting equipment malfunctions, and performing inspections. Candidates should also be comfortable reading mechanical drawings and have a full set of metric standard tools. This position may require working shifts and extended hours.

Job description
Job Duties
  • Ability to maintain machinery and mechanical equipment such as motors, pneumatic equipment, conveyor systems and elevators, storage tanks and bins, internal gear pumps, positive displacement pumps, steam boilers and hot oil heaters.
  • Ability to follow diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
  • Ability to troubleshoot industrial equipment.
  • Ability to inspect and perform data collection by using precision measuring and testing instruments.
  • Ability to remove and perform internal inspection, dismantle, rebuild and reassemble asset components by using hoists, cranes, hand and power tools.
  • Ability to create hand sketches of assemblies, as well as understand dimensional drawings, bills of materials and equipment service manuals.
  • Ability to inspect and assess wear and remaining useful life of various power transmission components such as sprockets, chains, couplings, drives, rolls, pulleys, bearings etc. by use of calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, levels, plumb bobs, strobe lights, laser alignment kits and other precision instruments.
  • Ability to fabricate repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment such as lathe, drill press, milling machine, grinders etc.
  • Comfortable using Maximo or similar computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Clean, lubricate, adjust pieces, equipment, and machinery. Knowledge of condition monitoring techniques (vibration and ultrasound analysis, precision lubrication etc.) desirable.
  • Ability to work as a team with other trades people, operators and contractors as required.
  • Ability to maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with Company's procedures, rules, and regulations.
Qualifications
  • Have a valid Ontario Industrial Mechanic License 433A (Red Seal Certificate of Qualifications).
  • Have full set of metric standard tools.
  • Exposure with mechanical devices, pneumatic controls and welding/cutting.
  • Have at least 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Able to read mechanical drawings.
  • Able to work shifts as well as some extended hours and weekends.
  • Have interpersonal, problem solving & trouble shooting skills.
