Job Title: Lead Technology Portfolio Governance Specialist

Current Need:

McKesson Technology (MT) has an Enterprise Portfolio Management Office (EPMO), a centralized function to 1) enable consistent portfolio management 2) build and mature project and program management capabilities and 3) drive project management rigor and standards to enable value realization from investments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process Development and Refinement: Evaluate the current state, identify process gaps using stakeholder interviews, and define or adjust portfolio process for projects and non-projects, resource and capacity management, RAID, Change Requests (CRs), and financials.
  • Standardize Intake: Ensure all service areas adopt a unified portfolio intake process for all work, with appropriate triage and governance procedures in place to direct requests to projects, enhancements, or business continuity activities.
  • Enhancements Process: Optimize the enhancements process and promote its consistent adoption across all teams by clearly communicating procedures and expectations, while providing ongoing support.
  • Enforce Governance: Establish process and tool-based controls to ensure that BU Service Category Manager/CIO approval is obtained before work begins, to reduce financial variances for enhancement activities.
  • Enhance Visibility: Develop detailed requirements for the development of dashboards that monitor capacity and expenses related to enhancements and conduct monthly review meetings with appropriate business unit and shared services stakeholders.
  • Metrics, AI and Automation: Collaborate with the Analytics and Insights team to develop metrics. Partner with the team to implement or develop AI agents and automate process steps and notifications, aiming to decrease manual tasks and increase efficiency for stakeholders.
  • Establish Clear Ownership: Define and document specific roles and responsibilities related to process governance for Project Managers, Service Managers, and Portfolio Leads.
  • Facilitate Training Initiatives: Collaborate with the Organizational Change Management (OCM) team to comprehensively document training materials for end-to-end portfolio process for all work.
  • Derive Insights: Analyze data and derive actionable insights for the project managers and service managers.
  • Establish clarity and connect the dots across multiple teams, while employing standard ways of working by partnering with all portfolio leads.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, ensuring their needs and expectations are met with portfolio process guidance and documentation.
  • Flex between tactical process level conversations and strategic portfolio conversations and adapt communication to the audience.
Required Skills and Experience
  • Typically requires 10+ years of experience.
  • Requires at least 5+ years of PMO process development experience.
  • Requires at least 3+ years of experience within a technology focused area (Digital Transformation, Shared Services, Technology PMO, etc.).
Critical Skills and Experiences
  • Exceptional executive presentation, communication, and influence management skills.
  • Experience working with VPs, SVPs / C-suites on a regular basis.
  • Process development leadership experience, by directly partnering with program/project managers.
  • Experience delivering results by collaborating and influencing business and technology delivery teams in a highly matrixed organization.
  • Proven stakeholder management skills & building credibility with executive leadership.
  • Ability to intentionally flex between strategy and detail and adapt style to different levels of the organization.
  • Experience driving organizational transformation and change management.
  • Ability to make complex concepts simple and convey it in layman’s terms.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish collaborative relationships and move with speed while bringing people along.
  • High degree of emotional maturity and ability to remain calm and focused under pressure.
Additional Knowledge & Skills (desired but not required)
  • Experience working within a technology PMO is highly desirable.
  • Experience working in large matrixed organizations is highly desirable.
  • Experience working with portfolio tools (Planview, Clarity, etc.) is desirable.
  • Experience in a highly regulated industry is desirable.
  • Certification(s) in SAFe Agile, Prince2 / APM, PMP and/or Lean Six Sigma desirable.
Education

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

Hybrid role and may have to travel within the country up to 10%

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson\'s pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Base Pay Range: $113,500 - $189,100
