Job Description and Responsibilities

We are hiring for an entry-level Laborer position at our Winnipeg location! This role is a great starting point with Interpro Recycling - Logan Iron & Metal, providing opportunities for growth throughout the company.

  • Sort, bale, and package materials in the yard
  • Load and unload materials, outgoing and incoming shipments, on trucks, trailers, bins, etc., from peddlers and commercial customers
  • Work with yard inspector and operators to minimize yard congestion and ensure a smooth traffic flow
  • Use hand-held mobile radio devices to effectively coordinate tasks and resources between the yard and scale
  • Inspect and grade ferrous and nonferrous material
  • Work in a nonferrous warehouse as needed/help out with inventory, material sorting, organization, and cleanliness as needed

Requirements

  • Completion of High School and/or equivalent
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Able to meet the physical demands of the position, including standing, walking, sitting, climbing, crawling, kneeling, bending, moderate to heavy lifting, and pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds throughout the day
  • Willing and able to work in variable weather conditions, including hot, dry summer conditions and cold, harsh winter conditions
  • Willing and able to work in an environment subject to fluctuations in dust, odors, fumes, and noise
  • Ability to learn and follow directions
  • Mechanically inclined
  • Self-motivated: Initiates and takes action before being required to do so
  • Strong work ethic: uses time efficiently, works safely, and makes sure everyone around him is working safely
  • Strong command of the English language, both written and spoken
