Job description

The Payment Services and Worker Travel teams within the Health Care Operations department of WorkSafeBC are looking for * *two temporary Health Care Payment Officers (18 months) to join our team to help us strive towards our vision.

In this role, you'll be calculating payments, therefore, sound math skills will be an asset to assist you with adjudicating and processing accounts for medical treatment expenses. Your exemplary communication skills and diplomacy are essential to ensure courteous, empathetic service when providing information and recommendations to injured workers and other connections.

You'll help protect the financial integrity of B.C.'s workers' compensation system, ensuring we serve British Columbians now and in the future.

Where you'll work

At WorkSafeBC, we offer a hybrid work model that combines working remotely, and in our offices based on the operational needs of the position.

  • Entitle and process health care benefits and travel arrangements for injured workers
  • Process invoices and answer inquiries from health care providers, vendors, and workers
  • Communicate with claimants, internal staff, physicians, hospitals, etc., to obtain or clarify payment information
  • Authorize and process health care expenditures on a variety of payment systems
  • Consistently models the appropriate level of organizational behaviours expected of all WorkSafeBC employees: responsive, respectful, fair, collaborative, accountable, and forward thinking.
We're looking for someone who can
  • Communicate in a persuasive, empathetic, respectful manner by listening and questioning for pertinent information
  • Gather and analyze information, determine relevant facts, and apply established policy to make timely decisions
  • Organize, prioritize, and multi-task in an environment that includes interruptions and changing priorities
  • Clearly, concisely, and accurately explain complex information both verbally and in writing
Your background and experience
  • A minimum of grade 12 education
  • Experience with Excel
Important to know
  • Successfully meet the legal requirements under the Criminal Records Review Act to work with children and/or vulnerable adults
  • Confirm you're legally entitled to work in Canada

Our benefits

Once you've worked for 1820 hours (approximately 12 months), you'll switch to getting:

Salary: $31.03- $38.48 hourly
